Cloud Computing

Cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet instead of your computer's hard drive. The cloud is just a metaphor for the Internet.

How to Snap 4 Windows at Once in Windows 10

PC users have been able to snap programs to the left or right side of their screens since Windows 7 launched in 2009. However, with Windows 10, Microsoft has taken snapping to the next level, adding the ability to split your screen in quarters and suggesting apps you can use to fill empty space on your screen. Here’s how to snap in Windows 10.

Snap 4 Windows on Screen at One Time

Using the mouse:

1. Drag each window to the corner of the screen where you want it.

2. Push the window’s corner against the screen corner until you see an outline.

Your window will take up about a quarter of the screen. Modern-style apps may take up slightly more.

3. Repeat for all four corners.

Using keyboard shortcuts (faster):

1. Select the window you wish to move.

2. Hit Windows Key + Left or Right. The window will now take up half of the screen.

3. Hit Windows Key + Up or Down to make it snap to either the upper or lower corner.

4. Repeat for all four corners.

Use Snap Assist

1. Snap a window to the right, left or a corner of the screen. You can use the mouse or keyboard shortcuts. A list of thumbnails showing open apps appears.

2. Click the app you want to fill the available space.

Snap to More than Half the Screen

1. Snap a window to the right or left side of the screen.

2. Resize the window to make it narrower or wider.

3. Snap another window to the other side of the screen.

It will fill all the available space, making it bigger or smaller than the first application you snapped.

Amazing 2048 !

Amazing 2048 is a single-player puzzle game created with the objective to slide numbered tiles on a grid to combine them and create a tile with the number 2048. It is a type of sliding block puzzle almost similar to the most popular android game 2048 which I liked so much. So, I decided to code it again myself just to check if I can code a game myself. I did it last weekend. Now it’s available for you all to enjoy.

Amazing 2048 Tips And Tricks

1. Take it Slow

2048 is so easy to play, you might get into the habit of tearing through games without even really paying attention to what you're doing. That's not a good idea. Take your time - there's no penalty for thinking your moves through after all. Also, try to predict where new blocks might come in and how you could deploy them. Something like playing chess.

2. Work The Corners

In order to win the game you should have a specific strategy. If you do not have one, you will most probaly not reach furthr than 512. So, a good strategy is to always keep your hiest value tile at one of the corners. Just chooose one corner and direct all your tiles there. It is not as easy as it sounds, but you can master it quickly. In order to stop the highest value tile to leave "the king's place", try to pack tiles around it. Preferably, they should be the other biggest tiles. Master this simple strategy and you will soon reach 1024 and even win the 2048 Game!

3. How to make the highest valued tile in the right bottom corner and not to move it?

Once you have placed your highest tile value is in the right bottom corner, do not move it. To make sure it is not moved, you have to make the last row always filled by pushing the down arrow so that the use of LEFT and Right Arrow would not move the highest valued tile. Basically, this is the most important cheat for 2048 Game - keep the highest tile in the corner and do not move it.

How to Backup Your Android Smartphone

If your phone crashes unexpectedly, or worse gets lost or stolen, then you'll not just be down the cost of a phone, but also a huge amount of data. To get around that, you need to enable cloud backups for as many things as possible, so that logging your account into a new handset transfers most of your data automatically. But not everything can be backed up that way, and that's why it's still important to take regular backups of your phone.

While some third-party apps like Titanium Backup and Helium will let you take a full backup your Android smartphone, they are not for everyone. Most users don't know about rooting their phones, or want to mess around with installing ADB drivers. No worry, it may take a few more steps, but you'll get there (almost).

Here's how to backup almost any Android smartphone

Backing up to the cloud

  1. On your phone, go to Settings > Accounts & sync.
  2. Under ACCOUNTS, and tick mark "Auto-sync data". Next, tap on Google. Now, tap on the Gmail ID you used to sign onto the phone.
  3. Here, you can turn on all the options so that all your Google related information gets synced to the cloud. This includes your contacts, photos (uploaded to Google+, privately if you want), app data, calendar events, Chrome tabs, your Google Fit data and more.
  4. Now go to Settings > Backup & Reset.
  5. Check Back up my data.
This will save app data and all of your phone's settings including Wi-Fi passwords to your Google account. When you sign in using this Google account on another phone, all of your preferences, photos (via Google+), and contacts will be imported automatically. This data is synced regularly and you just need to log into another device with the same account to recover it. This does not cover your text messages and various other types of data - you'll have to back them up yourself.

Locally back up media, messages and apps

Next, you'll want to save the music, movies and other media you've saved on your phone's memory card. This process is easy - just connect your phone to a PC and copy everything that's in the microSD card. This is a manual process so you'll need to make a routine of doing this.

Media

  1. Connect your phone to the computer with a USB cable. If you are on a Mac, make sure you have the Android File Transfer application installed before you do this.
  2. Open My Computer on your PC, or Finder on your Mac.
  3. Navigate to the SD card and copy all the files you want to save to your computer.
  4. After the copying is done, you can unplug your phone.

Text Messages

You can easily save all your text messages and call logs to your Gmail account by using an app called SMS Backup+. Try these steps:
  1. Download SMS Backup+.
  2. Open the app and tap Connect.
  3. Pick your Gmail account from the pop-up.
  4. Now grant SMS Backup+ permission to access your Google account.
  5. Now go back to the app and tap Backup. This will save all your text messages to your Gmail account.
  6. Log in to Gmail from any Web browser and on the left side you'll see a new label -SMS. Click it to view all the text messages that have been backed up.
  7. To restore these messages, just tap Restore in SMS Backup+.
  8. Tap OK in the pop-up.
  9. You'll be asked to set SMS Backup+ as your default SMS app. Tap Yes. This is needed to restore messages.
  10. Now the app will automatically restore all your messages and call logs. Once the process is complete, the app will show a pop-up that restores your default SMS app. Tap Yes.

Apps

The next step is to backup and restore installed apps. You can re-download apps easily if you're using the same Google account on the new device - just open Google Play, tap the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) on the top-left > My apps. You can install all previously purchased apps from there.
On the other hand, a local backup could be faster to restore, and wouldn't waste bandwidth either. And it's also pretty easy to do.
  1. Download ES File Explorer.
  2. Swipe the screen to the right to reveal the Homepage of ES File Explorer.
  3. Tap APP which is under a blue Android robot icon on the top-right.
  4. Tap and hold any app until you see a checkmark on its icon.
  5. Now tap the tick-mark icon on the top-right, the one inside a box with a dotted frame. This will select all apps.
  6. Tap Backup that's on the bottom row. This will save a copy of the apk files of all your apps.
  7. To view which apk files have been saved, tap User apps at the top. From the pop-up, select Backed-up Apps.
  8. Tap any app's apk file here to install that app without Internet.
  9. To save a copy of these files to your computer, connect your Android phone to a PC via USB.
  10. The phone will appear in My Computer like a pendrive. Open it.
  11. Go to Internal Storage > backups > apps.
  12. Copy all the apk files here. In case you format your device, or change handsets, you can quickly copy these apk files to it and install the apps again by placing them in the same folder on your phone, and then following steps 7 and 8.
By following these steps, you're able to save a copy of all your contacts, text messages, media, apps, Wi-Fi passwords, and your app data. Of course, doing everything one by one is a little cumbersome, and the best way to back up your phone is to use a third party backup tool. We've used Titanium Backup and it is excellent but it requires root access on your Android phone, which is something typically expected from more advanced users. Even its interface is too clunky for most average people.

Helium is a great app for those who haven't rooted their phones. It has a nice interface too, but it only works with select Android phones from some international manufacturers. If you bought a phone from Micromax, Karbonn, Lava or countless other brands, you won't be able to use Helium. Further, using Helium requires you to install drivers for the phone on your computer as well.

Alienware 17 - Gaming Notebooks

Alienware 17 3D Laptop

Alienware recently refreshed their gaming laptop lineup including the new Alienware 14, Alienware 17, and Alienware 18. I’ve been looking forward to some hands-on time with these new Alienware laptops so when I had the opportunity to use an Alienware 17 laptop running Windows 8 for a day I jumped at the chance.

The first thing I noticed when powering up the Alienware 17 is the mesmerizing AlienFX lighting system. You can actually change, customize, save, and share different lighting themes for the Alienware 17 if you feel like fine tuning the appearance. This machine has a high-quality feel to it and I really like the design.

Alienware 17 back/lid view
The Alienware 17 falls in the middle of the “small, medium, large” lineup of Alienware laptops and is packed with powerful features and hardware. Built around a stunning 1920×1080 17.3” screen, the Alienware 17 is designed for amazing visuals and graphics. Here are some of the specs for the machine.

General:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4800MQ, 2.7 GHz (Haswell, hyper threaded quad-core)
  • RAM: 12 GB 1600 MHz (2 slots used out of 4)
  • Screen: 17.3” 120 Hz WLED FHD 1920×1080 TrueLife with 3D bundle

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M

  • Cores: 960
  • Clock Frequency: 811 + Boost
  • Memory clock: 2000 MHz
  • Memory configuration: 3GB GDDR5
  • Memory interface width: 192 bit
These are very impressive specs for a laptop- and with two empty RAM slots there’s room to expand. Ports, power, and optical drive are all accessed via the left and right sides of the machine as seen below.
Starting with the left side of the machine:

Left side from left to right: power jack, HDMI in/out, mini DisplayPort output, USB 3.0 (x2), auto-sensing analog audio in/out
Left side from left to right: power jack, HDMI in/out, mini DisplayPort output, USB 3.0 (x2), auto-sensing analog audio in/out
And on the right side:
Right side from left to right: Blu-ray drive (Bottom), SD card reader (top), USB 3.0 (x2), Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet port
Right side from left to right: Blu-ray drive (Bottom), SD card reader (top), USB 3.0 (x2), Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet port
The layout of these devices and ports worked well for me. I found it convenient to access power, USB ports, and the NIC from the sides of the PC. On the left-hand side of the PC you can see when the power supply is powered because it features an illuminated ring near the tip, a nice touch. Another cool feature on this laptop is the reverse illuminated touchpad which glows when you are using it. I also really like the fact that this laptop features four USB 3.0 ports (one with PowerShare for offline charging).

This is a gaming laptop right? I decided to install a DirectX 11 game that I haven’t tried yet on the Alienware 17: “Trials Evolution Gold Edition”. I plugged in a USB XBOX controller and got started riding some crazy courses. I quickly got addicted to this game as it features tons of great dirt bike riding destruction. With the graphics settings maxed out at full 1920×1080 screen resolution the Alienware 17 had no trouble holding 60 FPS during gameplay. The game looked and played great, and the Alienware 17 performed great with this game.

The display on the Alienware I used is the top of the line spec that supports screen refresh rates up to 120 Hz and stereoscopic 3D as seen here in graphics properties:
Alienware 17 screen resolution settings including stereoscopic 3D support
Alienware 17 screen resolution settings including stereoscopic 3D support

Screen refresh rate of 120 Hz is supported
Screen refresh rate of 120 Hz is supported
3D support and a 120 Hz refresh rate is a pretty unique capability for a laptop. For extreme gaming experiences this specific display configuration would be a great way to go.

The Alienware 17 is a great laptop for anyone wanting to do some serious gaming at home or on the go. This laptop would also make a great machine for other extreme “heavy lifting” tasks like writing and compiling code, editing video, processing photos, and more. If you are looking for a great looking and highly capable laptop, take a look at the Alienware 17!
